News Updates

September 2010, saw 14-21 move from the Town Hall offices to Broadway House, 4-8 The Broadway, Newbury, Berkshire, RG14 1BA.  The move went smoothly and the staff, counsellors and clients are busy settling into their new surroundings.  Directions can be found by Google mapping 4-8 The Broadway, Newbury, rather than using the Postcode!

The general feedback about our new premises and the counselling rooms available has been very positive.  As we enter November things are definitely slipping into place.  The waiting time for new clients is approximately two weeks, although day time session appointments are available immediately.  This is largely due to an increase in new counsellors.  The agency now has 30 counsellors on rota giving a larger option of appointment times for clients.

15 June 2011 was the date we celebrated our AGM in conjunction with our 25th Anniversary.  A good number of individuals came to support the AGM and stayed on for the 'drinks and nibbles party' afterwards.  A special 25th birthday cake was made and decorated by two young people, namely Keryn (16 years) and Sean (13 years). This was cut by Omar who was at the even representing young people, and supported by Cameron who is also a Member of the West Berkshire Youth Parliament.  Both Omar and Cameron addressed those present and gave an us all an indication of the negative affect the bad press about young people has on them.  They both agreed that 'there is more to young people than hoodies and BMX bikes'!  Maureen Phillips gave a resume of being involved with 14-21 for 25 years, as she was the original Co-ordinator and has since been involved with the agency as Trustee, Vice Chair and Acting Chair over a number a years.  Her support has been invaluable throughout and although she stepped down at the AGM, she will remain a constant with 14-21 in her role within Children's Services at West Berkshire.
